Howdy!

I shall be publicly developing a chat mod (or mutator) for UT 99 (in continuation with https://eatsleeput.com/d/191-discussion-about-language/4). The coherent aim is two fold

Make the code clientside-only feasible
Add translator as envisioned!!

Ok minor progress update

I have decided to replace the default Unreal Tournament console with my choice (still experimenting) of personally designed (some imitated from original UTChat) user interfaces

This way I can read off the team and variety of say-type messages without challenging HUD (pun intended!).

Update: chat messages are now filtered and displayed. Also need to embed time stamps (perhaps accompanied by player face). Suggestions are welcome.

Phase II, the right translation, shall commence after a while 😃

Look like hitting f2 in UT2003/04 . It was a nice feature kept me from hunting around in the console trying to pick out messages.

so that message assimilation can be done gracefully!!

If the concern is about crosshair, then I haven't touched (nor have any plans to touch) the scaling.

UTChat's functionality shall remain "as is" to say the very least, or stripped completely the serverside stuff, to say the most!
One nice outcome would be that ChatDiamond be usable on any server of liking.

Let me know your thoughts

Ok emoji's are functional

Best part is, server need not have textures loaded. If two clients have ChatDiamond installed, the emoji experience is generated amongst clients only.

Haven't got to test chatdiamond yet since I don't really have a windows machine but very nice documentation you included, it was a good read! Looking forward to your native Linux version and I'm already jealous of your native Linux modding ability 😀 Will need to get around to playing with that myself at some point.

Even textures need proper masking and all that.
