Seriously just for this server alone they make no sense lol all the best players are ranked 50 or higher. I think its the IG noobs who have accumulating stats for 10 plus years as proof they are a good player. Ive been playing longer than all of you and my stats dont mean shit because I played a better version the first 6 or 7 years then i played no FPS for over 12 years. lol those ig pros are just so bad sorry.

For me stats are of no importance. I am not a good player, but i like to play sometimes just for shits an giggles.
I don't take it all to serious.
Also I like to watch matches and see how ppl roam and use map structures to their advantage, get ideas and use that in a future maps or something.

I is more of a relaxing hobby type a thing.

Stats are just more important to a loth of you , more important then the ctf itself πŸ™‚

I wonder who would have a spike in skill if some stuff wasnt trackedπŸ˜†

I think it's pointless to care about stats here, as Snow said several times that there are issues with it and most of all when we have a auto-balancer that can shift you to the loosing or winning team...

On the other side, I find it cool to see the stats.. like to see how many suicides one does and so on...
(then I go cry in a corner as I'm reminded on how noob I am xD )

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and my answer is that I actually care quite a bit about stats but I hate all of the tracking mechanisms built into UTStats. There's a lot to unpack.

I've definitely progressed as a player over a long period of time and I would much rather see my stats by year or being able to average out my last, say, 200 games to track my primary cares which are: caps, assists, flag kills, covers, flag returns, game winning % (I know it's problematic); basically all of the core CTF stats. I don't even really care about overall frags. I've never been a fan of the fact that the overall UTStats ranking is LIFETIME for a nick. It's also unfortunate that a person can come in and play like 20 or 30 AMAZING games and be on the top of the ranking chart forever.

I think it would be much more compelling of a friendly competition to see current year stats, or the average of a certain number of previously played games. I'd be very interested to see who the leaders might be in cap count over the past 12 months.

I raised all this with snowguy at one point and I just haven't had the time to visit it, but I may see if I can renew my intention of building some kind of KPI dashboard with raw SQL data to slice and dice key metrics in different and possibly more meaningful ways.

I guess its better than Later versions where your stats are tied to the CD-Key. Say some guy comes from another FPS game and he becomes a good UT player fast and all the sudden a CTF league pops up and uses a draft system is he gonna get picked last and end up on a shitty team?

Ranking is pretty pointless, play only andaction/joust maps for 3 hours with average skill you can place #1. For the weapon pug guys I added time filters so you can list by different time frames based on last played game but they only play normal maps.
