Is there any possibility to change the Amsterdam server to a normal instagib server ? I feel bad about it , that you do all the job to open the servers and that no one joins them, everybody is stucked on london. Maybe if you could change 1 of the servers to an instagib server , hopefully the oldscool/newscool will join , just a thought , maybe that doesn't work neither , i don't know .

Funny thing is the score board ping and f6 don't ever agree. On London score board says 96ms but f6 will say 120ms.

The scoreboard shows the ping as the server sees it, while stat net shows clientsidely calculated ping.
...and I think it can be presented more or less like this:
F1 ping = ping + (1000 / fps + 0.5 * 1000 / tickrate) * 0.5
F6 ping = ping + 1000 / tickrate + 0.5 *1000 / fps

Maybe make some amsterdam styled maps.
I remember i used to play in a Dutch clan DMC ( Dutch marihuana Clan. They had alot of custom map but it was mostly funnel garbage.
I also made a mutator for them that replaced the healt and healthvials with marijuana cigarettes and Heineken beercans.

I could start with something like the Stalwartlite layout but use the canalhouse and canal or something. I found a map like that some time ago on Unreal archive.

Or maybe make some advertisement on main server for amsterdam server. People just join from their favorite list and dont know about new servers i think.

Problem with that is weed is legal everywhere just about and no one drinks Heineken anymore. Open air hookers are the only thing Amsterdam has left.

this is the map i found some time ago, it has some funny features but it looks a bit dull.

the idea of the map is nice but it lacks good textures and the building are to simple.
it has a tram that moves and a small boat, a beer can you can pick up and some sound effect if you walk by buildings that are supposed to represent redlight buildings.

Maybe pick a time to start playing on the server regularly. I suggest Saturdays at either 11a UTC or 9p UTC. It wouldn't take long for others to start playing there also if a few regulars, maybe 4 or more, started doing this every week. Of course, I would make an announcement on the main London server to help out.

Edit: Sorry, I don't really have any interest in normal instagib. There are already other empty insta servers anyway and the Amsterdam combo server serves as a backup in case anything ever happens to the main London server.

    I think with 'next gen server controller' https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?t=13841 you can redirect people from one server to another when full. Meaning if the London combo is full it would redirect people to the Amsterdam server when loggin on.

    Don't know if there is a stand alone mutator for that tho.

        Yes, good idea but I had some bugs with nexgen causing me to remove it a couple years before sp0nge started doing fixes. I couldn't remember which specific bugs I had at that point but they were known bugs mentioned somewhere in the 50+ page thread on unrealadmin.org 🙂

          I understand it if you don't want to make it a instagib server , and want to use it as a backup. I just proposed it because it doesn't attracts people for now, and there are a loth of instagibplayers on london , who still prefer a normal instagib then a combogib. But for me its all good , would be nice if 2servers are full 🙂

            IG server without that recoil sound and a normal shockbeam would be cool. I know everyone thinks IG is the best in UT99 but as a UT2004 player its horrible that bar of fire and the mismatched timing of the recoil its fucked up.

            I hate the weird smell that comes from the ut99 instagib rifle, that's why I prefer UT3 one.

              Ooper i think a "certain person" has made the UT4 instagib for UT99. but im willing to bet he is not willing to share it, not that it matters, but i think its still pretty cool you can use such high detail in UT99.

                Maps on Amsterdam have been updated. Let's make the designated play time Saturdays at 9p UTC. Feel free to suggest a different time if this doesn't work for you.
