Is it possible to get 50-60 ping from the states?

Are there any internet service providers that can provide that low of a ping to London?

Player I'm using NordVPN to London. The best I've seen is a 64 ping briefly, but the numbers on your link using Boston as an example are accurate. My average shows 80 ping.

SoulCollector Wouldn't a VPN just naturally slow you down anyway? It's just more channels to go through isn't it?

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, and my ping is always hovering around 170. I've learned to live with it. I've tested playing with VPNs and it doesn't seem to do any good. Also, my internet service provider is the fucking shits and it's literally my only option, other than Starlink (\which is a significant downgrade speed wise but might have less latency, I'm not sure).

I will have to do some testing... even if I could shave 10 or 20 off I'd be laughing.

UTNL I'm seeing a 10-20 drop. Some conditions are better than others. (Time of day, etc.) When Glasgow is the quickest in the UK it's great. (There are 4 UK cities to choose from with an automatic quickest server function.) I thought initially too, that it would slow me down until I ran into somebody using it from Canada using a VPN. My initial connection is really good. Verizon Fios 1Gig connection. A 938mb/s download and a 948mb/s upload. On a side note, someone hacked my email for my X account, so when I got the account restored, I made sure to get some better protection as well. It was a good deal, a two year plan for short money.

The top picture is with the VPN on with the London server selected. The other picture is with the VPN shut off and my own connection. These are approximate and variable somewhat. Notice my difference with the New York server, then the London, flip flop.

I'm really a noob when it comes to this, but shouldn't ping be irrelevant if server is using Zero Ping mod?
I've seen players from South America or Australia that seemingly had no issues and were fragging players with 30-40ms ping.

skynet You make an interesting point. Truthfully, I'm surprised at how well I'm able to play considering my ping is at a MINIMUM 160. Now, I still get super frustrated when you shoot a MF in the face and nothing happens, and also when it gets really bad you see a guy in one spot and then suddenly warps to another spot, but you make a great point that whatever's currently in place, it must be doing us high ping folks some good of some kind.

Don't forget shockballs aren't zp, only left click is zp and you still have the delay between hit and kill. If you hit someone and they break line of sight before the server registers the hit it won't count, if someone with a lower ping hits the same player after you they can steal the kill, or if someone kills you before your hit has registered your hit is ignored.

469 does have improvements to movement and dodges in network games.

I just played for about an hour using NordVPN set to United Kingdom. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. It felt like I was playing on the NY server.

Oh man I feel so stupid for not having done this sooner. Cannot recommend enough!!

Yeah there is a reason some pug communities use tunnel software to get the best pings to there server, a better route makes a big difference, a player years ago his connection would randomly go from Canada to the Uk and then to the USA to get to a USA server from Canada 😆. I remember 12-13 years ago my hops changed and I went from ~ 50 ping to ~ 30 ping to the same server with the same connection.

Since players are using a vpn the server has been significantly more laggy. The use of a vpn for high pingers is understandable but players with a low ping use a vpn to be unrecognizable and lame like shit because they know they cant be banned.

Yeah, people using VPN seem to be laggy for others so it's actually an advantage for them. No wonder so many players from europe are also using VPN for that same reason.
