So among other things i was on a recent game and accused of cherry picking cos i went for the flag so much on crates
( i am not referring to the amicable dis ussion I had recently with skynet )

So how does one play ctf rather than playing dm inside ctf ?

I like defending but if its quiet i abandon that
If i get to the opposition base and their flag has gone i sometimes hide and if the flag is returned i take it

I think i have only capped about 6 times but some assists

If there is a mid check point i sometimes defend it but not if i am waiting around and then getting killed quickly

If a team member has the flag i try and follow them , maybe boosting them if its egypt

I like defending as I said , cos if i get killed i start near the base anyway

Does anyone communicate with their team using the R key ?

Which role do you take ?
Defend , flagtaker (hes a good player ) , roving , mid ?

Just ignore anyone that tells you how you should be playing, everyone has their own opinion. Just grow as a player at your own pace. Personally, when I first returned to the game I stuck to defending because I couldn't move or aim that well at the time and going out in the open would just get me repeatedly killed with no chance to accomplish anything meaningful. Eventually, defending became boring and my skills had improved so I became an attacker. Some players choose to always remain a defender and only attack if they are alone or have very few teammates. If it weren't for defenders your flag wouldn't be at home when and if you return with the enemy flag anyway. In short, just do whatever makes the game fun for you.

F**cking around does count as a role? Besides the joke, grabbing the flag is my thing, I used to carry the flag a lot while bouncing, not anymore.

I don't think there is a single style of play that doesn't annoy at least some people. I'm very CTF orientated, you can probably tell by my stats. I'm a flag taker who also keeps an eye on our own flag. If the enemy takes our flag I will prioritise returning it unless I'm already in the enemy base. I'll still get the occasional derogatory comment because I use grapple...on a grapple server. The best thing to do whilst learning the game is not to worry about it, have fun, and try different styles to learn what you enjoy.

I don't communicate with R key because the game is too fast paced. If I type, the enemy grabs our flag and caps.

I think I was playing with you guys this past few nights.
I wouldn't worry to much about CTF strategy at this stage. Learn the movement and the dynamics of the game ...in other words just concentrate on fragging.
Late night it's a good time to practice since most players at those hours are noobs=))
They always try to kick me from the game , they can't even realize when someone just playing around and giving them a chance to practice.

Kotler where do we start.....I see potential BUT he just plays scared all the times. Kotler it's a game man you ain't going to die irl. Btw your turn around movement it's to slow and it's probably impacting your FOV making you less aware of your surroundings.

Veggie I honestly don't even notice him the all game , completely irrelevant.

I watched DSN today on dukum she alternated between defending top and bottom , but when the flag got away she did everything she could to bring it back and when they went behind she tried to grab the flag

very interesting to watch , they are accurate but within what seems reasonable for someone very skilled

Blue Team were victorious thanks to some nice capping by Luca^Brasi who capped 7 and Luca^Brasi who took the flag34 times.

Luca^Brasi probably could not have done it without the help of Luca^Brasi who had 32 covers and Luca^Brasi for sealing the base off 0 times.

Although the Red Team defenders played well, the 36 flag kills by lostboy105t was just not enough to stop the Blue Team attackers succeeding.
Extra Credit should be given to BennyGesserit for getting frags.
Some sympathy should be given to Smooth who died a whopping 96 times - unlucky!.

All in all, this was a great attacking game for Blue Team, but all players deserve credit for playing well.

It's fun to track your accuracy. I've been playing under a new tag because on my old one I probably played 2000ish games not being very good, on bad settings, on a monitor with a poor refresh rate. 82 games in on this new account my eff % is 7 points higher and accuracy 5 points higher. Settings and hardware can make a pretty big difference

UTStats should archive players inactive and use data for the last 1-3 years (or just hide them, with the toggle on by default).

Match Report
A nice game of Capture the Flag took place this map with both teams trying hard to get flags back but only occasionally succeeding.

Blue Team however managed to succesfully cap more than Red Team with big help from =oZ`Locomot!Ve= who capped 3.
Kretaner made it hard for the Red Team defenders taking the flag a total of 14 times.
Not to say that the defence was bad at all, -=]UM[=-FuriousAngel got 13 flag kills and this made attacking hard work for Blue Team.

Sealing off the base for Blue Team was some nice defence including Kretaner who sealed the base 0 times.
Covering the flag carrier for Blue Team mostly was =oZ`Locomot!Ve= with 12 covers.

Attacking in vain at the other end of the map was BennyGesserit who managed to take the Blue Team flag 7 times, but unfortunately was unable to match the 4 caps made by Blue Team.
BennyGesserit was also up against some heavy defence including =oZ`Locomot!Ve= with 8 flag kills and Diov with 4 flag kills.

Good game and congratulations Blue Team.
