Unreal Tournament v469f - Release Candidate 5

Kurogane

OldUnreal published a release candidate for Unreal Tournament v469f.

When upgrading to the new version, you should backup your UT folder as precaution, in case things don't go smooth.

As a Mac user this patch feels better than 469E! I read in the release notes that they changed something about the mouse/kb inputs and the overall feel is much better.

UTNL

My mouse sensitivity feels completely different and I've had to adjust some things, but overall I agree with sky. I think it is a much smoother experience overall.

Yes, it’s way too unusual. What settings would you recommend adjusting?

Do you have MSAA enabled by default? I saw that I can no longer disable it, it seems to be enabled by default and 2x is the default value. FPS seem to be there about as before, but overall it's much more smooth and I am able to hit a little bit easier than before, there isn't as much "floaty" feel as before.
So definitely see how it feels after a few matches, I'd like to know if you find it easier to hit as well. Hard to tell but, I'd say my overall aim has improved 10-20% because of it.

My mouse settings were already in 1.00 - 1.10 range, so I didn't have to do any mouse adjustments.

Perhaps us Mac users were just held back before compared to windows users 🙂
Btw I'm on a M3 pro with 16 gpu cores.

UTNL

I'm still getting used to it, but basically I dropped my mouse sensitivity from 2.25 default down to 1.00. I need to do some more playing around to get comfortable. I also need to think about a new mouse because the one I have has a sensitivity button that I keep hitting by accident and it's annoying lol

UTNL

skynet After finally getting things dialed in, I am LOVING this update, for a lot of the reasons you have specified. It is most definitely smoother. Frankly, it just fits into the Mac app architecture better. Before, when I opened UT, it sort of took over the entire computer. Now I can even have it running nicely in a windowed format and everything else continues to run smoothly in the background.

I also have an M3 Macbook, M3 Max with 36GB RAM and 30 GPU cores.

I installed over the top , but the recommendation is I think to do a fresh install and then intsall over that , I didnt cos I am lazy and nothing much has changed that I noticed

Newbee

I only backed up unrealtournament.ini & user.ini and installed/extracted files overwriting existing.
Didn't have to copy the ini files back so the patch didn't overwrite any existing configuration.
When connecting to PUG servers encountered issues with Ace Anti-Cheat updating.
Deleted all NP* & Ace* files in System folder and tried again and it updated successfully.

PUG servers are dedicated private servers - so you have a lag free experience and players are mature and there's no spam chat. I don't play there just spectate - cos Newbee 😃 and will need to setup binds for All Weapons and configure Weapon Priority and you don't have Grapple but Translocator.

Ideally you need the Discord app and get invite to join the 'PlayUnreal' channel to interact with the community and access the servers. The players are assigned teams (5v5) by Bots and then a server IP & Password is issued for them to join. You cannot then leave the match until completion or you're likely to get a warning and potential ban. It's not a casual drop in and play for a few minutes and leave as you please.

They don't have ComboGib servers but Normal Weapons Capture the Flag (NW CTF) & DeathMatch (DM) servers.

You could try one of their FFA (Free For All) server: PlayUnreal.eu Regular CTF IPP-1 but ensure you join as Spectator as there may be a game in progress.

Alternatively if you prefer ComboGib then there is another popular public server.
