Just got back into UT, I'm enjoying the server and want to say hi

Hey everyone, I just got back into playing UT again and found your server because it was the only one with any players at all. Really having fun playing with you guys and its cool seeing a small community still around. I used to be on Max-UT/Maximum Gamerz forum a lot in the early 2000's, its a big 155/55 Low Gravity Instagib community that had hundreds of active members at one point.

I was known as "Clown" and just put my name as "Clizown" at some point but everyone called me Clown. I was pretty fuckin good but everyone hated me because I was 12 and annoying. For 155/55 LGI CTF I played with {RuN}, (MoB), {H😮:G}, and -=DBG=-. For 135/55 I played for LoB and for Giant Map deathmatch I played for [FusionDM].

Like I said I mainly played 155/55 LGI so been trying to get used to normal grav, combos, and the grapple hook. You guys are fucking good at combos.

Also, I WILL NEVER CHEAT. I don't even know how and I'm still fucking pissed from when (VP)X-Cellerator banned me from his server during the best game of my life (this was like 2003 lol) {ESF} server was always better anyway tbh.

Welcome back to UT Clown. Thanks for joining the forum.

For finding old players you might have better luck on the ut99.org forum. That forum has been around much longer and has many more members than this one. This forum just started this year and currently the members are probably just a small subset of the players from the combogib London server.

If you have any old maps you'd like to see on the combogib server just post them in this thread https://eatsleeput.com/d/41-eatsleeput-combogib-ctf-map-update/18 and I will test and possibly add them to the server for the next map update 🙂

I am back in action and found this server as of late. I am back to my ole days making maps as well. I kinda feel I am better now than I was then in mapping that is, my shot isn't back yet 🙂 I have a personal server running on my home server and making maps again.

Admins if you're interested let me know I can post some pictures. I noticed you do not have )BoM(Maps on the London Server. Most of my maps was created for the LGI 155/55 class. Back when HoG and VP was running strong. I was also in DBG for a while. I'm just an old man that still loves UT and computers. Only difference now is, I have a lot more money and build high end RIGS.

I love the London server so far, but I am trying hard to get use to the speed and no LG.

Anyway, I will make a post soon introducing myself.

Always interested in new maps. I can't remember the names of popular maps from all those years ago so I have just been randomly trying maps over the years. It looks like I had only tried these two of your maps so far:
CTF-BoM-Crucifictionsv2
CTF-BoM-FreakArena_v2

From my notes, it seems I only gave them a pass because they were a bit on the large size and maybe I was also a bit tired of only playing arena maps at the time 😉 Combo players mostly prefer the smaller maps, at least that is what seems to be popular with the majority of the players today. I will re-evaluate them anyway just to see.

I've been considering a few new servers but not sure they will do well, most don't. Since Clown described it, I have even been considering LG Insta - it does sound like it could be fun. Since you are already running a server at home though maybe you are already planning to make a dedicated public server. Is that something you thought about already?

Some are there yes and some are larger maps. I just remade the small map CTF-BoM-XPlosive its more up to date now. I'm not by no means meaning you need to add some just because I am playing there now. On that note I can start making a few smaller ones and throw them your way and see if you like them. I forgot how much dang fun this game is and it really plays into my creative side being a mapper.

I do have a server in my home just to play with the kids and employees. I also host a few Minecraft servers for them on the same server. It is running on Asus MB with a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and 32gig ram. Not sure if it can handle a lot of players. I do not know what it takes to run a busy server. I started out just needing a server to run a few web sites on it. Tired of paying for them for my companies.

Anyway, very nice to meet you look forward to running with Ya, is snoguy your gaming name? If I see Ya on the server, I'll throw you a hi.

PS just getting into Ubuntu Linux maybe you can throw me a done. I am a total noob to it. 🙂

Cool, I'll try all your maps that are available from the link and put any on the server that I think others will like. It's not always easy to predict what will become popular. For example, I added (UTW)-Opel because I thought it was decent although I felt the run was a little longer than most players would like and now it is voted way too much 🙂 Anyway, I add new maps in batches so it will still be some time before I add additional maps. I'll happily check out any new maps you decide to make and send over.

That server of yours seems like it will handle lots of players just fine. The main thing with home servers is the net is usually inferior to data center servers but it wouldn't hurt to try a public LG insta on it and see if there is any interest today. I'd like to try it out if you get it set up.

I'll try to help with any Linux issues you might have. There are at least a couple others here that also have some Linux knowledge.

155/55 is pretty fast, I am sure these guys will not like it. Shit even I do not like that speed anymore. I started my server at that speed and changed it pretty fast down to 125

Maybe you lol. I was like 12-13 tops never seen weed in my life and completely computer illetarate besidedes opening UT, AIM, MSN messanger, and Internet Explorer lol. I think it was just part of me being young and annoying to everyone else so it was an easy quickban to appease someone else while you werent even there. Someone else thought I was botting, summoned you, you showed up and instantly banned me without watching me play. I did have some video recording of it but it was pre-youtube and I had now idea how to compress/host/send it to anyone. CrazyHorse and DV8 tried to help me but it didnt work out. Same kinda thing happening when I had a tryout with ESF and had no idea how to update to 436 patch lol.

Nothing has ever topped UT99 155/55 LGI CTF scene ever in my entire gaming life tbh. It's crazy seeing how big "E-sports" are now and thinking how that was basically us on the IGN ladders.

Sadly with Epic trying to bury the existence of any version of UT I doubt you will ever see it on any Gaming ladders again.

Wasn't epic planning to "re-release" UT-3 as f2p in march? At least, I've read something about that rumour on ut99 forums.
But sad thing is: even if epic would've released ut-2014 - it would've ended just as a project where old-farts and a hanfull of acolytes of A-FPS-genre go to die, since majority of ppl prefer garbage like pubg.

UT3 is the only one i never played but from youtube videos i,ve watched they fucked up dodge spacing. drunken_fool I think that's just EZ isn't it? Hes like Caligula but harder to kill LOL.
