Disable Last TEN Maps Instead

Hello friends!

Just a friendly suggestion that I've been thinking about quite a bit recently. It seems that only the last FIVE maps are disabled from being reused and it also seems that now that we're down to 20 minutes, I'm seeing the same maps being voted for over and over again. It was always a problem before, but now it feels to be even more of an issue when you're able to be on for a few hours and might end up playing Frag or Opel two and three times.

I'm wondering if the community would support upping the number of disabled maps to ten instead of five, to force people to branch out more (if that's even possible, of course, which I assume it is).

I agree with this, 10 should be fine now that there are so many maps to choose from and as you mentioned that the match length is reduced to 20 minutes.

What do others think? Maybe this will be a good poll topic.

Usually I only play around ~5 maps in a row, so I personally would vote for leaving it at 5, but I see the point that it might get boring for people who tend to have longer gaming sessions 😕
Maybe the "avg. # games in a row" (of players who played 100+ matches?) figure could help making a decision 😛

I've seen quite a few servers die from having the vote limit to high and people not being able to play the maps they want, that's what killed the <//UrS//> server the first time.

Playing always the same maps can be boring but preventing people from playing what they want is worse.

Server has a fuck ton of maps. I'm sure a statistic would say right away the ones that were never played or rarely... so instead of forever Limiting why not try something like one day of the week we have only 12-15 (or less) maps to choose.

Put the 3-4 regulars there and fill in the list with 7-10 others to kinda force people to vote and see what they are. Right now it' happening what happens when one goes to a shit restaurant that instead of having 7-8 dishes have a list of 30+ dishes and we waste precious time trying to find what to order. It is called Option Paralysis so instead of choosing something new we go for the same crap we already know.

[deleted] I can still be surprised by the occasional new map I fall into that catches my eye (Execrated and B3CrimeZone fall into this category, they were happened upon) but I have a good solid 20 that I love to play whenever I can, but also get stuck playing Opel, Frag, Woot, LiandriDocks and 2Crates a LOT and would love to encourage more diversity in as gentle a manner as possible.

FWIW: I agree that going 10 would be decent. I honestly would be challenged to remember 10 these days to vote on.

I'm gonna have to agree with ooper to long a wait will drive players away. I will admit though that for a first map of the day to get your brain up to UT speed Fragwhore is useful. Best new map for me is probably Combolicious but I dont mind too much playing a couple shit maps in order to play a good one.
