Thanks for posting these instructions glad to see that they worked. ACE uses an extra udp connection to the server configured to use port 7779 on the London server. Routers and other firewalls will need to track the connection to see that the client initiated it or they will block the servers udp responses to the client thereby triggering the ACE timeout check. Guessing some bugs cause these tracked connections to get screwed up or fill up the available memory at some point and then new connections won't work.
I wonder if rebooting the router AND the PC would be an easier fix for others with the same issue.
X-Cellerator I have been getting the red box on the right for weeks. Not sure if that's what you are getting. It's getting so frustrating its making me not want to play there any more.
Hate seeing that red box, would definitely suspect some bad hop in your route. If it was the server, there would be many more complaints. It could be a node close to the server though and if that is the case I can try to get the host to fix it. If you want to try and see where the problem is, try running either WinMTR or the free version of pingplotter. Feel free to PM me the results so you don't display your IP in public. The hard part is trying to get the problem acknowledged and fixed especially when it is your own ISP at fault and not a local issue(wiring to your house/modem/router etc.) 🙁
