Again, same like in comments: LINK 2 + LINK 3, since 3 days me and several other players (even from other countries) on LONDON 1 server experience lags: ping spikes up to 300 / hick-ups / screen jumping, today even worse: we started a map and the server has frozen for 2-3 minutes for everybody, with lag spikes > 1 sec + red connection icon on the screen. A really shitty experience since 3 days. Someone in game said it was some russian hacker doing DDoS attack like in: LINK 4.

Rules depends on the place, on many github issue trackers / forums it's expected to avoid opening duplicate / similiar issues to prevent spam, maybe that's why I follow it (and not "agenda"), if I created a second similar issue that turned out to be a duplicate, it would be closed / locked and marked as a duplicate and I would be advised to not create duplicates. If on the current forum the rules are the opposite, fine, I'll adapt to it, as it doesn't make any difference for me, but did you realise that on the current forum you are the only one who all the time cries and moans about posting in old threads, strange.

For the ping spikes, it is not typically the server that causes this but rather a node along the route to the server. You will first want to check f6 client side ping also to see the same and then run a mtr tool like the free version of ping plotter to see where the problem actually is.

The server regularly (every couple of days or so) gets a flood of connections from wherever which will cause the game to freeze but this usually doesn't last more than a second or two. These don't seem to be specifically targeted attacks more like just probing type things that would happen to any server with open ports on the internet. 2-3 minutes would be unusual. Was this freeze with the map already loaded or during the switch to the new map?

The thread that you originally posted to was about a highly distributed and sustained attack on the server that lasted around 24 hours to the point that no one could play on the server the whole day. That is why this was considered unrelated to that issue and this is as far off topic as I will go in this thread. If you want to discuss forum rules please start a new thread on that topic.

I already did a 10 min capture with PingPlotter, but somehow I accidentaly clicked something and lost the results, maybe I'll try again.

It was happening with the map already loaded, at the beginning, I don't remember whether it already started to happen while map switching, in case it did, still the major part of the issue was after the map started.

It's not about details, I was speaking in general terms, the point is that your statement had a tone as if you were telling sb off, that there exist no rules other than those here, so I made you aware that in some places it is the other way around.

snowguy There's this guy goes by alias POCTOB (that 1000+ping guy on sshot) or similar (like mr.POCTOB and whatnot). Logs in on server and that causes server to start lagging like hell. Usually he does that on smoking server (that grapple ctf all weapons), but today I met him on london 1: he joined - server started lagging, when he left - server started to run like usual.

Hey, @PepsiCola , by any chance do you remember whether this POCTOB guy was present on server when you experienced server lag?

Thanks for the screenshot. This is another issue that I don't want to say too much about but it is unlikely that the player is doing it intentionally. I will take care of it.

He wasn't present when the 2-3 min big lag/freeze happened, however someone said on the chat that the lag was caused by POCTOB doing DDoS attack, I don't know whether what was said on the chat was for serious or just a joke / sarcasm, and in case was for serious: whether it was a confirmed information or just guessing, that it was the cause.

By the way, as for pings on a scoreboard: me too have been seeing last days spikes up to 300 for several other players, on a scoreboard, also some players on the chat confirmed experiencing lags last days.

snowguy seeing how he keeps spamming "next" voiceline every time he causes lagspike (on smoking server at least) - I believe he does that out of malice, rather than "by accident".

Yeah I was also experiencing spikes on NL server and when people kicked that player democratically, spikes disappeared.
I'd say pretty chances that POCTOB is the root cause.

I've been complaining about these 300 plus pingers but no listens to me... They get near me I'm stuck in a time warp sometimes have to shoot early sometimes late, screen jitters like a paint mixer even though getting 165 fps. While I'm crying out loud wtf is with this spell checker how can it not know im should be I'm. I cant prove any of this but botcop and ofb are behind these things somehow .

No you don't understand. Another well respected member of this community revealed the root cause. In effect the said respected member (maybe he will reply in this thread) said, "FFSD KICK THIS GUY".

Personally I'd be careful before making any assumption about the match that I haven't witnessed.

London just runs very weird lately . 🙂 Like my screens stutters , and offcourse delay sometimes . The fps is stable .

What is the problem ? just ban him if he intentionally or not intentionally brings lags to the server. Let him fix his internet...
Although I have big doubts that he is the cause of the lags.

What do you guys think, who will ddos the server and play on it at the same time? 😉

I am also experiencing this type of delay. something is up. Has anything been updated on the server recently? there are lags but my ping is good and without pl. It looks like some permanent server overload. Before we accuse anyone, let's look at this from another angle. I'm not an expert, but maybe some recent heat over Europe is causing it. This occurred to me because there are no such lags at night. At least I didn't feel it.

Nothing has been updated on the server for a very long time and the server is running well within its limits, not overloaded at all.

Anyone experiencing lag (other than when everyone on the scoreboard shows packet loss) is urged to run the free version of ping plotter or at least WinMTR to see where the problem actually is rather than assuming the cause is the server.

Tried several times, run those tools each time I play, but It might be not easy to catch the lags using those tools, because:

Ping (tools) and UDP (game) are different protocols
the tools do ping with 1 per sec, compared to 60 tickrate per sec of the game server & client
(PingPlotter offers 0,5 sec interval and WinMTR offers 0,1 sec, but when I set the ping below 1 sec, some problems arise, also PingPlotter offers UDP but only in Pro version, and my Trial already expired)

It may take a few days, because in such situation it seems can only catch big lags in game which occur less often, and not regular lags which occur more often (but are sufficient to ruin game, yet too small to be catched with those tools).
