Thanks for the report, same problem for me. It might be related to an issue the host got reports of on Oct 31st which they said was an issue with an ISP outside of their control.

For anyone else having this issue please try the London 2 server, I have increased the tick rate there which may have improved the feel of the grapple on that server.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out where the issue with the London 1 server is 🕵️ Once I have more information, I will open a ticket with the host to try and get some resolution.

What ever the problem with grapple is I don't think it's tick rate related, it's seems to be a problem with the state the player is set to while grappling, as soon as you detach and start falling movement is normal, otherwise it's shaky.

But saying that, noticed jump pads have the same kind of feeling when you first use them.

Update to this, it is a DDoS attack. Have done what I can to mitigate. Some people just aren't happy when others try to have fun I guess 😠 Hopefully, posting about it doesn't empower them to continue.

Always been the same, a guy got banned for cheating years back and ddos'd the servers for days, most likely the same thing going on.

3 or so weeks all of a sudden I was having huge ping spikes. Going from my usual 35-40 to 180-250 and some PL. Doing a quick IP Check it was saying I was in another town 600 or more kms from were I am. I assumed it was the ISP changing stuff.

You were most likely right about the issue you had starting 3 or 4 weeks ago. This current issue started very near to the time Ooper started this thread and it seems to have subsided about 10 hours ago but they might start up again we will see.

For 2-3 days i have a sort of 'hick-up' on the server, i guess i lag for some reason. At first i thought it was when many players joined, but i noticed it happens even when there are just a few players online. I played on other servers to check but it doesn't occur there.
My connection seems to be ok, so anyone recognizes this or have any suggestions? (without deleting the game!!) 😃
Packetloss could be the problem, can it be fixed? It looks like a short time-out, no idea where it is coming from....

The server seems to be okay again for some time now apart from the occasionally 5 to 10 second flood every couple of days which is typical.

Try running the free version of pingplotter to find out where the possible cause of the issue is. Probably it is just an overloaded node in your route to the London server. Everyone streaming 4k content these days with minimal reinvestment in building out the infrastructure isn't helping matters 🙁

Again, same like in comments: LINK 1 + LINK 2, since 3 days me and several other players (even from other countries) on LONDON 1 server experience lags: ping spikes up to 300 / hick-ups / screen jumping, today even worse: we started a map and the server has frozen for 2-3 minutes for everybody, with lag spikes > 1 sec + red connection icon on the screen. A really shitty experience since 3 days. Someone in game said it was some russian hacker doing DDoS attack like in: LINK 3.

Before I switched to LONDON server several years ago, I was playing on Fast Download SMoKiNG server (which is located in Netherlands), and it had same problems too, or even worse: due to lags and freezes, the server often restarted the map in the middle of the game, with all the players points erased.

That server is awful when ever I have played on it(v451, outdated ACE, fake players, takes multiple seconds at times to just change weapons or interact with flags), which is sad because there are no public CTF weapon servers and when people come back to the game and play there they think UT always runs like that online and are unlikely to come back again.

Every fiber of me is prohibiting me not to nag. Given the circumstances, yeah that NL server admin needs be given a piece of mind for not minding the server (i.e not updating) and promoting fake players simultaneously. I mean some may even interpret that the players who play are actually contributing to the lameness. If there are any alternatives I am all ears.

steps taken:
an email with the issue and ways to resolve was sent. As result, admin put some server add saying, in effect, "I don't read emails". Coincidence? I think not.

Amazing you're stupid, coz campers / spammers in general don't spend 100% time in corners, 50% averagely (in some matches more than 50%, in some less, depends on many factors), and the other 50% time in a map (or more / less), they play normally like others.
