Probably that awful newnet version on the server putting people off, if it was zp or the old newnet that wasn't so buggy people would probably play there. Don't get why it can't just be a clone of the uk server, people obviously like the set up there why not have the exact same on the new york server?

Quick update to say that the IP address for the New York server has changed. I'll update the main thread with a little more detail and fix the status page later today. You can just edit your favorite and change it to this new IP and all should be well:

snowguy Hi snowguy, I was thinking that it would be awesome if you could make the london server the london/newyork server and every 3 or 4 months change server in play capitalizing the server in use. It would equalize advantages due to region and would be really interesting to see how much the dynamics change if at all.

Hey rapt, I'm afraid the majority of players will just refuse to play with a high ping. It's the same for the majority of North American players who had it so good long ago. They just refuse to play on high ping servers and having had to suffer through playing with a high ping myself it is understandable to some extent. The point being, I don't want to try and force players to play in a different region.

It would be good if those that want to play on the New York server could agree on a time to start meeting there. If there are a few players on at the right time others would regularly start joining also.

I can tell you from when the Atlanta combo server was popular on a regular basis before that the most popular time for the Americas is Friday and Saturday nights starting around 10pm EST.

It might be best to try and start meeting on the New York server Saturday nights at 9pm EST. Is this time suitable for others in this thread?

snowguy Hey Snow, I appreciate the detailed response. I get your point. I wonder if the ping differences make a huge difference, especially when I see high pingers ie: FT Zim's frag count with 250 - 300 ping. That being said I would be up for some New York matches

While a good portion is from the Americas I don't think they will gather just to play on the New York server when the London server is established. Easterners won't move over anyways because of their ping while most America based players won't move over because of lack of people. I haven't really played in an American based server in years, and I'm from the heartland of the U.S. and I do remember a lot of good servers over the years that were based in the area.

destro This is exactly why it won't fly. I enjoy the london server and no sense at this point losing players.

I think the Aussie & New Zealand players have similar ping to the USA servers or at least it was ₁₀ years ago, they are kind of screwed in that regards. 2016 games zim averaged ~ 210 ping, still pretty high, i think it was a new your server as well.

Personally i think there is something in the ping compensation that starts helping at over 200 ping. I haven't done any scientific testing on this theory but on the occasions I have over a 200 ping I cant fucking miss.

jerc I usually play within the 160 range and at times I feel like I can't miss. Then again, I usually have the highest death count on either team so I guess it goes both ways lol..

Best thing to do against high ping players is avoid them it's not worth the headache guessing where their hitbox really is, especially on newnet servers.

There was a fun bug, when the |uk| combo server was still up and was newnet if you make your ping high enough you can hit a person twice, they'll die, respawn and then the second shot registers across the map even through walls, not useful but something fun to mess around with.

The guys getting 10 kills are usually me getting killed by them, I know my movement is shit but I swear it feels like my hitbox is double the size of everyone else 😆

I would imagine playing with a 200 plus ping comes natural for zim and red etc... Thought technically they live in the future...

This Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00 noon EST, I will be making an effort and playing on the New York server. I will be lobbying for people to join us on the London server as well. That's the best I can do.

I think you can download it free now . I know you can Install all version on the arch aur so there must be a Mac Install somewhere.
