I totally agree, voting different maps doesnt work either. There's always some spot, on the wall-ceiling-corner you name it, where brainless spammers hide, shooting into the air with enemy flag right next to them. Consequently there are only a few players left who really go for the flag, which you do need to win. I guess it happens and it ruins a game 🤷‍♀️

There are multiple posts about this in forum, same as spawnlaming. You might want to check this forum about them.

To ban someone for failing to grab the flag next to them, you first need to clarify this rule or add another one. The current one is too general. At this point, you can't do anything to a player who doesn't pick up flags. It depends on how we interpret this rule: "The objective is CTF. Play it". For some people, it's about running to that flag as quickly as possible to pick it up, while for others, it's about preventing this from happening so that no opponents get close to the flag, killing them and waiting for potential opponents until the flag disappears or someone on their own team picks up. So, either way, they're playing without breaking this rule.

LOL you are distorting rule 2 to include stuff you don't like. A lot of these spammers are good players and some are actually fun to play with. Come tell me EZ isn't one of the funniest guys on the server and when Lou comes out of his spam spot he isn't a good player. If you vote 2on2 crates people are gonna spawn rape the lift area or andaction spam the 2 right corners it's just the way it is no Admin could stop it.

Being lame (spawnkill, camping, spamming) isn't due to the maps but due to the people. I've played many games on maps considered to be "spammy", but with actual good CTF players and it was a joy!
So it's all down to the people, once one starts being lame, 2nd will follow and we end up in a fuckfest where everyone is having fun spamming/camping/spawraping except the players playing actual CTF, so I totally get 455m's frustration.

455m457312 While I totally agree with you, I also know why admin probably won't do much about it. ESU is a highly populated server and enforcing rules will make players leave (good riddance in my opinion, since those kind of players contribute absolutely nothing to the game).
I've heard from a couple of players that are avoiding ESU mainly because of this. So:

Keep it as it is, server is populated and in rush hour becomes the Jerry Springer show of the UT99
Enforce the rules, some people leave ... but some other (quality) players might eventually come back

Or teach your AI swarm to do it

455m457312 First, "monsters" wasn't an insult, quite the opposite, it's how I refer to players who are genuinely good. Skilled, hard to beat, the kind you actually learn from by playing against them. My point was about the team balancer, like this another one "fuck this guy" balancer game I got... again. 😆

Second, the "cheaters" label: I mentioned it because that's what some frustrated players call them when they get stomped. Not my words, not my opinion, just describing what happens.

Third (and this is the core of it), it's a public server. Not everyone is here to grind and improve. Some people just want to jump in, have fun, and enjoy their moment. That's valid too. A public server isn't an exclusive training ground for the elite.

Back in the day I used to play instagib lowgrav servers just to boost my teammates around. That was my thing. Everyone has their guilty pleasure in this game, and that's fine.

I know what you're talking about. Yes, there are those who ruin the fun for others with this behavior. However, I was talking about clarifying this rule so that something can be done about such players. Because at this point, in my opinion, there's no basis for banning them.

player_0 That makes sense only if you count their stupid shit as playing CTF, which it clearly doesn't. When you completely ignore the main objective in favor of spamming the spawn (ie in favor of your own stats/"fun",) you aren't playing for your teams win condition. This is not try-hard-sweaty-whatever, its just simply not playing CTF.

The main objective is clear to everyone of us, lets stop pretending it isn't, (even tho my english might not be exactly correct.)
