Might actually push Euro players to play there too and make it busy,

It's because that newnet version on that server is a broken mess, you can't even use the grapple right because it's so jittery/laggy and it's not because of ping, the USA Combo newnet server I played on before with TimTim's newnet was fine, the grapple worked without problems.

The last time i played there it was laggy idd, it runs a bit weird and like you say ooper i had problems with grapple.

I'm not sure Instagib would save the Atlanta server. I actually considered sniper arena for it because it was popular in that region long ago but probably also just wishful thinking. Have been trying to decide how much longer to keep it running actually but will probably keep it running through the Winter.

It really only ever got players late at night on weekends in the past (around midnight in the Atlanta timezone). This used to happen once every other week or so and then there would be 10+ players for a few hours. Now that only seems to happen once every couple months.

I didn't really get complaints about earlier versions of that newnet but maybe it is just no one mentioned it. Timtim's original version did always feel smoother to me for some reason though. I'm not sure what state the public release of that is in. It would be cool if you guys could compare Atlanta's feel with the London 2 server to rule out network problems. They are currently both running the same version of newnet.

snowguy It would be nice if the london2 gets people too , everybody looks to be hooked on london1 . And its summer less players then winter.

I will try them both out atlanta & london2 , and let you know how it feels. The last time i played there was 2-3months ago and it felt a bit weird but can also be the higher ping im not used to 150ping.

Im a big fan of sniperarena , i would play it for sure 🙂

London 2 has the same horrible lag and broken grapple, with ~ 25 ping F6. And you can't change hitsounds like in any other version of newnet, says admin has disabled hitsound changes.

Thanks for the extra feedback. If you get a chance can you try the Combo DM New York server? That one is running an older version of the same newnet and I would like to narrow down when the lag/grapple issue might have arisen, if it wasn't always present.

I had problems with the hitsounds long ago and probably set it to force them IIRC. I think the problem I had long ago with them has been fixed now (at least I remember things regarding hitsounds in the chagelog) so when I figure out whether I should revert to an old version, update to a new version, or abandon altogether I will change this hitsounds setting for you. You prefer the bong sound instead of the stinger?

It's still the same on the NY server, I can't test against TimTim's newnet as the server doesn't exist anymore.

The movement is ok(same as other servers, but not as good as "oldnet" 469), but as soon as you use grapple you shake and it makes it feel like you have packet loss.

Thanks for the extra testing and the more precise description of the issue. I have always noticed this too when grappling but the jerkiness seems to coincide with the notch reeling sound of the grapple. I have actually tested this by grappling and then bouncing a long way to see if I get that same jerky behavior at the faster speed but it seems to only happen for me while the grapple is attached.

Not sure if the grapple was intended to be that way or not but I never noticed it on the old UK combo server nor do I notice it on a regular non-newnet server.

You must be stoned Atlanta and New York lag free for me only problem with Atlanta server is people go London because people are always there even Americans. I say keep Atlanta the way it is or get rid of it and save some money I wouldn't put some mod no one will play on there.

have to test.

ESUOH i don't think everybody has this problem on london2 because they seem to play normal and the most could use grapple in the correct way (i think)

Grapple feels the same for me regardless of what netcode the server uses zp fnn nn. The zp servers always strike me as a clear disadvantage because of ping. On the other hand, nn server seems to balance things out between low and high ping players. This comes from a guy who plays in a laptop at 50-60 fps in london server 250 ping and atlanta 150 ping. They both have their good things.

For the shaking we are talking about, it's unlikely you will feel/see a difference with playing conditions like that.

The other day it went better , 'less stuttering and i could release but the server was empty' but if you can't release you can't play at the fullest and use grapple.
