Thanks, this will be helpful. Not sure yet when I will have time to mess with it. A couple of requirements / niceties I can foresee with this. To be clear first, for anyone reading: we are talking about putting a time limit on sudden death overtime. Matches will still go into sudden death overtime but if no one scores when the time limit imposed on overtime expires the match will end in a tie.
- OverTime time limit should be configurable. (will do a poll here on what we should set this to)
- The announcer should count down the time remaining in the overtime period (5,3,1 minutes left and 30 seconds left etc.)
- SetEndCams should probably just go to the score leader of the match.
- An appropriate announcer should play at the end like the "You have lost / won the match" Not sure of what announcer sounds may already be available for this. Maybe they have a tie announcement in 2k4 even?
If anyone can think of anything else on this, post up your thoughts.
By the way, the main problem this solves (as Esuoh brought up) is some maps are prone to overtime that can go on for a very long time (as Ooper mentioned, especially if there is a good balance). Some examples of maps where this often becomes an issue: Docks-mini, Niven(original), Control ... and many others where a couple of dedicated campers or an overcrowded map can and often does practically shut the game of capturing flags down.
