PREAMBLE: My post is specifically about the player with the nick 'r' but I am not sure if other single letter nicks are not the exact same person. I may be wrong.
I don't understand how so many people can just watch r play and not vote to kick. Yes, this player seems to have a low ping. But I was just watching them for about 20 minutes on LiandriDocks and not miss a single time. I realize this player seems to have the desire to put themselves only on weird hallway like angles to get a lot of kills, but the fact remains that I can watch them gain a ridiculous amount of efficiency and NEVER missing.
A couple of things:
1) What can I do to prove it? What data can I gather that would prove it conclusively? Would a video help? I mean, it would seem to me that any reasonable person simply has to watch them play for a few minutes to realize that their aim is just impossible; every single person who comes from around the corner is shot instantly in 99.9% of cases.
2) I understand that all play styles are accepted but perhaps we need to meet in the middle as a community. If a player gets 0 grabs, time and time and time again, and focuses only on getting hundreds of frags, I think it's pretty clear that this player has no interest in CTF. It's my understanding this is a CTF server, so what rules can we put in place to ensure that all players are clearly supporting CTF? Perhaps a single grab per game? Maintaining a reasonable average of grabs? Perhaps video evidence of moving beyond the same small area of map? I could definitely provide video recordings of MULTIPLE games where r is just standing still and not helping with the CTF directive at all. You could call it defense, but if you have a player on the server who's only goal is to get 100s of frags then there's no point playing CTF at all because the balancer will just shit its own pants after a while. (PS: This is yet another argument to base the balancer on something other than pure points) Yes, all play styles are accepted, but this particular play style is antithetical to proper CTF play so perhaps we should revisit the idea of "all play styles are accepted" and try to move closer to the server encouraging everyone to play CTF in a proper way.
I realize that there's probably no resolution to this and this is mainly just a polite rant. Regardless of what you think of r's playing style, I hope I might convince a few of you towards the idea that said playing style is not good for this server and therefore, when you see r playing, my personal recommendation is that you should vote to kick in all cases. I am happy to stand to be corrected but I have yet to see a single game that r did not wreck with their own individual playing style.
