Btw will sound cruel, but milenium generation can only complain, report and scream around: I'm bullied, I'm bullied also act nasty against others. Is not only in game, but in game is visible much more than rl. An example in discord few days ago was reported player with nick ASS because he is a noob. Well, instead help him to play better was just reported as noob who just don't have place in server.
I like very much admin decide to quote : don't discourage players, because that's main thing.

I play this game online from 20 years ago and before we was real community, no matter is ctf, dm and ect. We helped each other and to annoying players we just ignore together or try help be more respectful with others. We were just kind. Now is only insults and if u tell someone Is good player and is pleasure to play with, they wrong it as fan or flirt and high his/her ego in heaven.
Everyone wrong sometimes and to realize mistakes need talks or ignore, not going to report or insult back.

Fir Skynet I know why take it so seriously. Is because we are slavs and this kind of words sounds more like curse than a insult.

It's only works when "noob" player wants to learn and actively seeks help or tries to improve by himself (training, watching and analyzing vods from high tier players etc).
Otherwise - you just going to waste your time - and you don't have an endless supply of that.

annabella Your experience and my experience are totally different. I played when the UT Demo dropped and man., the Demo community was always toxic. I joined a good group later on and it was always hate and spite. Then came to the full version around 2005, played TurboIG, LGIG, 100 speed Ig and it's been that way ever since. Maybe it was just the IG community as a whole but name calling, death threats and everything was always on the menu. Then the constant being harassed by people with Admin powers was a thing back then too. At least the latter is not a thing anymore.

After going through the trouble of trying to strip the ips with regular expression from a stats log without breaking the file encoding, so snowguy could send me said log without privacy issues, to allow me to fix the site's utstats, there's no chance he'll give a player's HWID to you.

It will be pretty obvious if he was on one of your servers, if he's winning non stop shitalking, if his team is losing by a cap he rage quits.

Ooper Anonymity brings the worst out of some people. I wouldn't be surprised if he acts differently around people who "know" him.

Disrespect and offensive language happens not only on the server but also in forums, and its timeless. It happens anywhere anytime. So its nothing really new, its just getting worse.

Giving out hardware IDs and IP addresses is just wrong 99 percent of the time. SnowGuy takes the privacy of players very seriously.

And I'm willing to stop starting now, just keep in mind I also had to suffer players with provoking nicknames like Free_Palestine who calls me a murderer and child killer (Palestinians, the same ones who on Oct. 7, unprovoked, raided Israel and murdered a family of a friend of mine (after raping his daughter), and so began this war they're now crying about), not to mention players that the moment I enter give out racial slurs immediately (I won't give names here), so it's not like I'm the only one doing it. So, I shall too report them it happens hoping a fair treatment is given. Thanks.

Everyone is aware of the recently increasing tensions all over the world and should have compassion for each individual's plight.

I am leaving your post unedited for now but if it inflames some huge political arguments/fights on this forum I will be forced to edit it and lock things down. This forum is mainly for UT players to help each other.

Since in-game chat is mostly temporary, usually ignored, and because of the aforementioned increasing tensions in the world, I have taken a lenient stance on what is allowed there. I do not want to go down the rabbit hole of censorship and over moderation that the big tech platforms have been forced to take (mostly to please their advertisers).

UT allows us all to step aside from the real world problems we all face and forget about things, at least for a brief period. So, let's not bring those same issues into the game.

While I am skeptical of his reasons, the last few times I've played with him he was actually ok with no such outbursts, so looking good. He's otherwise a good CTF player so I hope this behavior sticks 🙂

I'm not sure if that's possible or if you or others would agree but ... I would suggest that the voting system for kicking players be changed from 50% of the votes to a lesser number since most people never bother with voting regardless of what's happening during the game. It's very hard to actually kick someone for his behavior.
In all my time spent on the server I think I've seen just 2 or 3 successful kicks. And even if a player gets voted out (at the end of the game), he can just rejoin when the next game starts...so what's even the point? Most of the same same players get voted, never reaching majority and ofc it's hard to expect someone to change their ways if they know nothing happens to them.

So perhaps keep the current majority system, but have the kick be applied for longer (5, 10mins so rejoins are not possible) or lower the voting system from majority to smth like 30-40% ?

destro we talk for the same game ? Never heard 99 to have demo. I start play the first game Unreal and Unreal return to napali and short time after came UT 99. Start play online since 2001. Please trust me everywhere players was tolerant even with all 10k servers at this time. Have players who I know for maybe 17-18 years ago and still good friends, and I'm sure isn't just because of gender because I'm female.

Would be good if there was a way to mute repeat offenders server-side, 'some' people really do not have a pause button. It's less about what they say but the constant repetition of it, nearly every map/day even after being ignored every time. Though I'm sure not many have the same experience as I do. As for the political BS, it's clearly there just to get a rise out of people, best ignore it if a mute isn't an option for people who try and bait others at the end of every map.

skynet It's very hard to actually kick someone for his behavior.

What are the criteria for kicking someone? It's for everyone different i guess. For one it's the flaming, the other just for playing and moving well. That's why not all people kick. It's different as well when names are revealed of the ones who do the kicking, some servers have something like that. The anonymity disappears so noone kicks a player anymore.

I have no problem with removing anonymity, not even sure why that would be anonymous.
Usual suspects include saboteurs cosplaying as dEfEnsIvE campers or players that come and DM all match long and won't pick up their own flag even if its right next to them. But that's a separate topic 🙂
