  • Can we at least consider a referendum on hopping?

I just got a new mouse wheel is stiff like a rachet and my right pinky ends up dragging on the mouse pad but it was cheap lol. I got a really nice Roccat with a broken wheel I wonder if I can mod it to infinite scroll when I fix it.

a month later

I find it annoying when a player bounces, or bunny hops or whatever it's called with the flag.
It reduces the game's fun.

Is it possible to add a poll to see how many people approve this?

There's really no point in doing it.
1) Most people playing don't really care much about most things (hell, just try to ask ppl to votekick some obvious aimbotter who didn't even tries to conceal himself - nobody would care - I've seen it back when cowboy was messing around).
2) Bouncing ain't that big of an issue.
3) You can get a feeling what "community"s opinion on bouncing just by reading some of the posts above: some defend it as if their life depend on it, others dislike it. And it's kinda close to 50/50ish.

Most who complain just can't do it other than ooper all the complaints are by non bouncers and he isn't complaining all that hard.

From what I read above, most players prefer without it, but we won't really know or agree without a poll.

Anyone can learn how to bounce if he wanted to. Bouncing is relatively new and it's changing this age old loved game without everyone's consent.
Would have been preferable if it were a mod per map like low gravity.

Til then, just want the bouncers to know that it's not fun playing with them.

No one changed anything the IG servers all sit empty because no one wants to be bored to death.

Every time I take the flag I am bouncing and anticipating a good boost. Many times I have gotten it.

jerc Atezris must have a fancy infinite scroll wheel because I have to time him a little more closely.

I must have missed this entry then.

I have a feeling that it doesn't depend on his fancy infinite scroll wheel that he's hard to hit. I'm more betting on unofficial settings or his internet provider.

There are certain players who are almost untouchable in the air (those who mostly use grapple and/or bouncing). They're always the same people.

I don't want to insinuate anything, but it's strange that when we compare two players with similar pings and we want to hit them when they're approaching us using, for example, a grapple hook. One player can be hit without any problems, and the other player is ALWAYS problematic, and these are players who most often use the hook - because they know that they're hard to hit in the air.

I'm giving an example of a hook, because with bouncing it could be explained by different speeds and maneuverability while jumping. And when we pull ourselves using a grapple hook, we can't dodge or move, and the speed is the same for everyone, so what's going on here?

I was just saying his bounces are less choppy then most

Ok, but I remembered when I saw your post that I was going to write something about this. I don't think I'm the only one having problems with this.

He makes a lot of little movements so he's hard to hit. Identical ping going another route isn't the same.

player_0 maybe those players that are harder to hit are located further away in the network? Lol. I have no idea how it works network wise. Would that be even of influence? Like someone from Spain having a harder tim hitting someone from the Netherlands then a German has hitting someone from the Nethetlands?

Yes the further away the laggier the player will be but there are also other consideration like packet loss also their route to the server. Its funny how its always the Euros complaining about people being hard to hit because their pings are to high just be glad you are are playing on a UK server where you have an advantage over this guy. If his ping is under 150 and you cant hit him it is your fault period. IG pro rules if you are a good player you are still a good player up to 150 ping.

I think we've had a fair bit of conversation, I really wish we could hold a vote and get it over with. @snowguy I would be really interested in hearing you weigh in on this.

If we can't hold a vote, or no action will be taken by the admins, then I guess I have no choice but to learn how to do it. However, I do NOT want to learn how to do it if it's going to be made illegal in a short period of time. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the fact that it seems the only way to remain competitive on this server now, against people like Annoying, sus, bustacell, creep, and all the other primary bouncers, is to actually join them in doing it. I honestly have no interest in learning how to do it (and I would have to go buy another mouse which is annoying as fuck) but the server is becoming unplayable when you have 18 players and 3 are ruining the game for everyone else.

If the NA eatsleep server was a clone of the uk server and not that frag newnet stuff with different settings people would play there at night, but I'm guessing NA players are too stupid to join another server even if it was a clone of the London server, don't worry I'll play on wifi, give myself more ping and packet loss and start bouncing if you can't hit me it's your fault 🤡

The US insta server was always better then the uk insta server, until that died and we were stuck with the uk one. UK servers are genuinely just shit.

Ooper maybe I'm looking at the wrong servers but every time I try to go to a North American server it's always empty.

It is empty because its set up completely differently, if it just used the same zp and set up as london it would be played on more I bet.

UTNL @snowguy I would be really interested in hearing you weigh in on this.

Well, he responded in the old topic with following:

snowguy I think I mentioned before that I allow (but don't encourage) bouncing on the ESU servers. It would be nice if some consideration is given to others though: if people complain about it just play regularly, don't run up the score by bouncing so you end up with a 7-0 game for instance, and don't bounce full time everywhere or use macros for it.

And something tells me, his position on the matter won't change. After all, right now bouncing ain't that big of a problem, despite a couple lamers ruining a match here and there.

          "destro,
The stats are being logged on the other servers I just haven't set them up for the website yet because of some other issues that need fixing. All of the current stats will need re-importing after some issues are fixed and I figured I would just wait until then to set up the others.

The Atlanta server was really only ever popular on Friday and Saturday nights around 10p to 3a EST. It's still possible it could have a resurgence. It's a shame because there have been a number of returning USA players each year that give up after some time of trying to play on london and not getting anyone to join Atlanta so they seemingly move on to other games or activities."

I asked about this almost a year ago and that's the response I received. I assume he's extremely busy or it's just too time consuming to fix the us atlanta server. I think there's a few factors why Americans play on the London server, but if some issues would be fixed there would be others willing to migrate over to the US server. I just don't know if it's worth the time or effort. I'm not for or against bouncing. In competitive play when there were ladders it was not allowed and clan members had to return flags. Bouncing has been around a long time, Coret facility was one of the main one's it was always banned in because of tele-bounce and even the 44oz servers tried taking out bouncing when they implemented combo and grapple in the early 2010's.
