    Nicefu Hello. I started the topic on ut99.org. I didn't think I'd have to continue it. There are so many things I didn't mention about him. For example, he uses Bunnyhopping all the time.

It's just that Ferali is very knowledgeable about this and he explained some things very well in that thread so I wanted others to be able to access this same information without me doing a poor job of trying to explain the same things here.

    Esuoh is correct in that I have turned a blind eye to bunnyhopping / bouncing. It's definitely not encouraged but my servers are just for public fun which is the main reason for the leniency in the rules. I spent an extremely huge amount of time warning, kicking, and banning players for constantly switching teams whenever they felt like it and I didn't want to undergo the same torture to stop the bunny hopping. First because it isn't used that often and second because it can even happen by accident. More to say on this but I'll leave it at that for now.

    I can only assure you that the logs don't give any insight to the matter. Although what you have written here might not lead to a ban, I wouldn't consider it all in vain as I am taking it all into consideration. I have already watched your video at the specific times you pointed to in slow motion and I will be commenting on this later today hopefully.

    Nicefu About the name of the cheat. Call it Zeroping or Hacked Zeroping or Hacked Driver.... doesn't matter

    There very well could be a zeroping hack. If you find one that gets around ACE feel free to let me know about it / send it to me in private and I will work to make sure it is stopped.

    Also, if you really believe it is a zeroping hack we now have the ComboGib London 2 server which runs Newnet (FNN) instead of zeroping. The majority of players will have a much better experience on this server with newnet instead of zeroping anyway. It would only take a few players on there from time to time to gather others there and then we can see if the same things happen under this different setup.

    Exactly this, I cannot currently prove it and/or I'm not currently convinced. I will mention that being easily convinced of something isn't always a good thing. I myself was even kicked from a deck 16 server after sniping proficiently from the sniper pickup spot and I'm certainly not a top notch player.

          Lots of players say he is banned on all servers except mine and therefore he should be banned here also but I don't really know anything about where he is banned and why. Some were saying he used to use the name baton so I dug up an old thread on the UK forum about it which seemed to indicate he was banned for bouncing. Maybe there is more to it but I'm not aware of that.

          Titan What you say snowguy is, that you will do nothing, as long as there is no proof. With that attitude, your protecting one guy.

          It's not really the protection of "one" guy though it is the protection of all innocent players until they are proven guilty. Around a year ago Titan, you were playing a lot more and your aim was getting exceptional there were lots of players claiming you were cheating should I have banned you because of that?

          The point is, this "protection" extends to every player and proving someone cheats isn't an easy task if it is well hidden. Yes, that means if someone is a really good player they could probably get away with turning a cheat on from time to time but please don't because I really don't want to have to ban you permanently and lose respect for you when it is found out that you were cheating.

          Titan I think it would be a good signal, to active remove players from a running game. You can broadcast an admin message into the game, every player can read that.

          I already do this sometimes but you either don't see the message or aren't on the server when it happens. It shows up in white text in the chat area. I don't want to display it in the middle of the screen while everyone is trying to play.

          You are right, toxicity and poor behavior are contagious but so is courteousness and kindness. While I hope you don't change your game to be annoying since it is being done to you I understand if you do. Often times when you get spawnkilled a bunch, like on 2on2crates for example, you go to return the favor but instead of getting even with the player that was doing it to you; you instead spawnkill someone else repeatedly that was just trying to play normally. The player you want revenge on is actually back at your base still spawnkilling your teammates.

          The point being, there aren't that many of us left in this game we should try to be helpful to each other and make that the contagion as much as possible instead of the toxicity.

          We should start a separate thread to discuss spawn camping and what can or should be done about it. Not everyone will want it changed as in some regards it is part of the game and Titan brings up a good example of why spawn protection can be frustrating at times.

          zcbz Regarding people playing CTF, more points should be given to people who attack.

          I will start a thread about this soon zcbz. There I will show all the settings for points and we can discuss changes if anyone wants them.

          lol fucking ig hypocrites I've watched plenty of ig league videos and those hos are alway boosting across center and ive seen a little bounce add to it. I snuck a few in off jumpads on that server no wonder that shithole is always empty now.           The only thing i can say about the video, is that i see something 0n 2.41 & 7.41 (the sudden movement of crosshair, like you push centerview) but thats it , if he cheats you would see that all the time, not? im not convinced yet.

          I think it's the shape of the door the angle and the size of the shock ball. Unless there is a botter than can rewrite the laws of physics a shock ball bot is impossible it would require knowing the future. My opinion is the whole video looks off like he is not using specfix mod, using behindview0 isnt good enough.

          Ok, I'm going to start trying to address the video, the specific times in the video might need to wait for the next post depending on how much time this takes to write. To anyone reading this forgive me if I explain something you already know I'm not trying to say you don't know it already I'm trying to distill this information so that anyone can understand. If I make an error in my explanation and you know better please correct me for the benefit of anyone who ever reads this.

          I'll start by saying I'm not an authority on this subject but I like to think I have a decent general knowledge of this. I read a lot! and I have done some studying of newnet when I helped asosed for a short while with his FNN. You should be skeptical of anyone who claims to be an authority on these matters as there aren't too many left in the UT community who could actually be considered an authority. Those that are an authority will most likely be well known.

          The server that this video/demo is from is running ZeroPingPlusv103 which as most know is a mutator that provides client side hit detection for hitscan weapons. That means, in this case, the client tells the server when it hit a target using primary fire of the combogib weapon. The combo ball damage/hits (secondary fire) and the hurt radius damage done by combo super explosions (primary fire exploding secondary balls) is still decided on the server with zeroping. Quick clarification on this special combo super explosion - the client tells the server it hit the combo ball with primary fire with zeroping active but the server decides where the combo ball is located when it exploded and how much damage is dealt to things (based on their location determined by the server) in the vicinity of this explosion.

          Each client and the server are obviously running their own version of the UT game but the location of every player, combo ball, and other moving objects can differ on each game. The Internet is used to keep these positions in sync but because the internet protocols we all use are only a best effort service there can be delays or missed updates in these positions. When one of the running UT versions doesn't get an update or an update is delayed it just simulates where it thinks that object has moved to so that things seem to move smoothly. There is more to be said on this subject like the different delays based on the each players' distance from the server, and the servers ultimate authority on these positions etc. but I'll leave it at this more simple explanation.

          All of this explanation was just to discuss what anomalies a player might see when playing on a server with this configuration. These anomalies are important to understand as they are often mistaken for possible cheats.

          First, you might see an opponent and you run behind a wall to where he or she can no longer see you and then you die from that enemy's primary fire. This seems impossible but remember, with zeroping, the enemy's client tells the server he hit you before you ran behind the wall and the update to your client machine telling you that you died was just delayed somewhere along the way. It does not automatically mean someone is cheating when this happens.

          You will often see what players commonly call unregs (unregistered hits). You shoot your primary fire and see that it directly hits someone maybe even multiple times but nothing happens. Well that shouldn't happen if your client decides the hits for hitscan weapons right? ZeroPing is well known for this issue it could be a bug or it could just be a delay or lost packet when your client sends its transmission to tell the server it hit something. This doesn't necessarily mean the player you shot is somehow hacking.

          Also on this server, there is a mutator that plays hitsounds to the client when he hits something. Because hits are usually instant death in combogib we tend to associate these hitsounds as kill sounds but really they just indicate that you did some amount of damage to an opponent.

          So another strange thing that you might have seen is you shoot one of the secondary killer balls at someone and you watch it land directly on them, hear the hitsound and then watch them run away. How did they survive? In this case the damage done by the combo ball is decided by the server based on the location that the ball hit your opponent. If you only just grazed him or her with the ball it won't do full damage but on your screen it looks like it was a direct hit. The problem is the positions of moving objects aren't the same on every machine at every moment and they can also be affected by lost packets or delayed packets as mentioned earlier. Where you see the enemy the server believes their position to be slightly different from that location. These same positional differences can also make combo explosions do partial damage or kill you even though you believed you weren't in their vicinity any longer.

          One more thing that players have probably experienced that will hopefully drive home these differences in positions of things between the different machines involved in the multiplayer game: You swear you grabbed that enemy flag before they were able to capture yours or you were sure you made that flag return before the enemy picked it up. The server has the authority on who touched the flag first. The position of the enemy touching the flag before you just happened to be a little bit different on your screen than it was on the server at that moment and on the other guys screen it might not have even seemed close.

          Hopefully, all of this is a good explanation of why a demo you take on your client machine isn't completely accurate on where players are when you see them in the demo and probably more importantly where you see them aiming isn't always accurate. The view rotation of the client you are spectating (where they are aiming) is client side you have to wait for that change to be transmitted to the server and then along to you before you will see the change in rotation on your end and this can also be affected by delays and lost packets. Even a demo on the server will see things different than what the client sees. The only way to see what the client sees, presuming no bugs and no tampering unlikely but probably possible, would be to see a demo that the client records himself.

          With all of this in mind I hope I was able to convey the difficulty in detecting well hidden cheats. Later, I will apply some of this to the specific times mentioned in the video and point out what might mean something and what probably doesn't mean anything.
